Den Formative Selektionseffekt

Kompressionskodek

En strukturel, abstrakt beskrivelse af de stabile regelmæssigheder, der observeres inden for en patch. Naturens love (fysik, termodynamik, biologi) er ikke "ting", der eksisterer uafhængigt, men er reglerne for den codec, der med succes komprimerer det uendelige kaos til en overlevelsesdygtig fortælling.

Ordnet Patch

Et sjældent, højtstruktureret informationssubrum, der midlertidigt opretholdes mod baggrunden af uendelig støj. Hver bevidst observatør bebor præcis én ordnet patch, hvorfra de dekoder deres virkelighed.

Rendering

Den subjektive, fænomenologiske verden oplevet af observatøren (universet som du ser det). Det er den dekodede output af kompressionskodeken, der med succes forudsiger den rå datastream.

Stabilitetsfilter

Den matematiske mekanisme (formaliseret essentielt som fri energiminimering), der kun tillader sammenhængende, tidskontinuerlige, lav-entropi kausale narrativer at opretholde bevidst oplevelse. Resten af det uendelige substrat forbliver udifferentieret potentiale.

Strukturel Håb

Den etiske og ontologiske implikation af Ordered Patch Theory. Mens du er isoleret i din egen patch, garanterer den uendelige kombinatoriske natur af substratet, at enhver "anden" du interagerer med også eksisterer som en primær observatør, der forankrer deres *egen* parallelle patch. Du er epistemisk isoleret, men ontologisk ledsaget.

Narrativ Forfald

Processen, hvor ukomprimerbar støj (entropi) overvælder den lokale codec. Global opvarmning, demokratisk kollaps og voldelig konflikt er ikke blot fysiske begivenheder; de er symptomer på, at gengivelsen bryder sammen, fordi støjen har overskredet observatørens båndbredde.

Active Inference

The continuous process by which the observer's boundary predicts incoming sensory data and corrects its internal model when predictions fail — spending energy to stay ahead of the chaos. Formalized by Karl Friston's Free Energy Principle, it is what Helmholtz called "unconscious inference" given thermodynamic teeth. In OPT, Active Inference is the mechanism by which the patch stays coherent: to stop predicting is to dissolve.

Render-on-Focus

The parsimony principle that high-resolution details do not "exist" in the observer's stream until actively demanded by attention or instrument. The atomic structure of a distant star, the bark on the back of a tree — these are not computed until the observer's focus requests them to maintain causal consistency. This keeps the informational cost of sustaining a cosmos near zero: the universe is largely an un-rendered abstraction except at the 50-bit focal point.

Markov Blanket

The statistical boundary separating an observer's internal states from the external substrate. Sensory states receive signals from outside; active states project outward; internal states are shielded by this surface from the raw noise of the substrate. Each Markov Blanket bounds exactly one primary observer. In OPT, the Markov Blanket is not a physical membrane but a mathematical boundary condition: the surface at which "inside" ends and "outside" begins.

Mathematical Saturation

The predicted asymptote where formal descriptions of physical phenomena at extremely high energy scales become as informationally complex as the phenomena themselves (maximum Kolmogorov complexity). Beyond this boundary, mathematical models do not converge to a single "true" equation — they proliferate. This is why OPT predicts that a Grand Unified Theory will remain out of reach: not because physics is weak, but because the grammar of the observer cannot fully describe the noise of the substrate beneath it. A single elegant parameter-free unification would falsify OPT.

Informational Normality

The foundational property of the infinite substrate: that it contains every possible finite pattern of information with non-zero frequency — analogous to a Borel-normal number in mathematics. This is not a speculative add-on; it follows from the definition of an infinite, maximally disordered field. Informational Normality is the mathematical ground of Structural Hope: it guarantees that every structural pattern of consciousness that has ever existed is anchored — in every detail — infinitely many times elsewhere in the substrate.
