What This Is and Isn't
We model the epistemic hygiene we advocate for. Here is a clear delineation of where the physics ends and our philosophical extrapolation begins.
What This Is
A Philosophical Thought Experiment
- An Ethical Framework: It provides a deeply compelling reason to protect the climate and human civilization, even if you reject the underlying metaphysics.
- A Unifying Metaphor: It uses the grammar of quantum mechanics and information theory to build a vivid bridge between physical entropy and societal decay.
- An Open Tent: The intuition that the world requires active maintenance is ancient. Whether you approach this through the lens of a religious faith, indigenous philosophy, or secular humanism, the theory offers a modern informational vocabulary for these shared concepts, rather than seeking to replace them.
What This Isn't
Not a Verified Physics Unifier
- Not Peer-Reviewed Cosmology: The assertion that consciousness 'filters' the universe is speculative philosophy, not an empirically verified physical law. We cannot put the universe in a test tube.
- Not Solipsism: Opting into the theory does not mean others aren't real. The theory explicitly introduces 'Structural Hope' to guarantee the existence of parallel primary observers.
Crucially, you can fully adopt the Guardian Ethics without accepting the single-observer metaphysics or Structural Hope. Working to maintain civilizational stability makes sense on pure self-interest and compassion alone.
